Like all the Telmo Rodriguez wines from Toro, Gago is 100% Tinto de Toro (the local clone of Tempranillo). Generous with deep fruit and impressive balance, Telmo Rodriguez Gago is picked by hand from 40-year-old bush vines, and fermented in a mix of neutral cement casks and stainless steel to protect the character and quality of the fruit.
Part of the movement to rediscover Toro wines in the late 1990s, Telmo Rodríguez and Pablo Eguzkiza sought out ancient vineyards that pepper this beautiful region. They encouraged local grower families to return to high quality viticulture, and this bottling pays homage to those who dedicated themselves to preserving these vineyards for future generations.
