Join us for a Conversation & Wine Tasting with Opus One Winemaker Michael Silacci!
A Fundraiser for the Chicago Chapter of
Les Dames d'Escoffier
One wine of absolute quality
Opus One started in 1979 as a New World-Old World partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild (Bordeaux), and Robert Mondavi, famed for his eponymous Napa winery to express the best of classic Old World Bordeaux “savoir faire” in a California “New World” region.
This ambitious joint venture between two of the world’s most esteemed winemaking figures achieved near-overnight critical acclaim, matching the lofty aspirations of its name. Today Opus One is one of the most recognized brands, sold in the most important restaurants in the world.
For the last several decades, much of the credit for the success of Opus One is due to winemaker Michael Silacci. Mr. Silacci came on the scene in 2001, and since then has long had the responsibility of fulfilling the vinous dreams of both founders.
Join us for a virtual visit to Opus One winery on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 28, where we will chat with Michael and learn about what it takes to produce an iconic internationally known wine, the impact of organic farming, meticulous winemaking, environmental stewardship, legacy and his unique philosophy of team management. Following the discussion and tasting, remain online for a virtual tour of the recently opened Partners' Room for visitors, featuring a discussion of newly acquired curated works of wine-related art.
Thanks to the generosity of Opus One, proceeds from ticket and wine sales will support the fundraising mission of Les Dames d'Escoffier, and funds collected will be matched by Opus One Winery - a great way to double your contribution!
