Shinobu Distillery is the first whisky distillery in Niigata, Japan. Niigata is well known in Japan for its “Three White Treasures," namely snow, rice and sake. It is also a naturally blessed environment for pure water source; thus a perfect location for making whisky.
"SHINOBU means “forbearance” in Japanese language, symbolising the spirit of a samurai. Shinobu spirit also best describes the spirit in making great whisky which takes time, patience and persistence. Shinobu Whisky is hand crafted by the creative master distiller, Mr. Ken Usami, also an experienced brewer who established the first brewery in Japan to use secondary bottle fermentation and bottle aging more than 20 years ago.
Shinobu Pure Malt Whisky is made by selecting the best whisky from different distilleries which are first reserved in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks and then finishing with precious Japanese Mizunara oak in Japan. The result is a unique fusion of flavours and dynamic explosion in palate yet so smooth and easy to drink. All natural with no colouring.
