Dennis and Judy Groth bought the 50-hectare (120-acre) property in Oakville in 1981, and replanted to specific clones in 1990. The Oakville property in particular is considered prime real estate – it is bordered by Plumpjack, Screaming Eagle and Silver Oak. The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Oakville AVA Cabernet Sauvignon. The sweet vanilla character derived from 22 months aging in small French oak barrels, 60% new, blends well with the black cherry and blackberry flavors and aromas of the wine.
