Wine Enthusiast: 91 Points "Full-bodied and broad, this is a big mouthful of barrel-fermented Roussanne. Modest florals highlight grilled pear and pineapple fruit, toasted marshmallow and honey, turning to stone fruit on the long finish."

Domaine Barville is the historic family property of Laurent Brotte, named after ancestors named Barville. This 23ha vineyard to the west of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, overlooks the Rhone, with Avignon on the horizon. It is made up of seven parcels spread over two of the oldest and best terroirs of the AOC (red clay and rolled stone of the “Pradel” and the broken limestone of the “Beaurenard”)

At an altitude of 100 meters, the vines of an average of 35 years, overlook the Rhone and benefit from the Mistral. This strong, northerly wind dries the vineyard after rains, thereby favouring maturity. The very hot climate and excellent exposition also add to the ripeness and concentration of the berries.

Made from a parcel of 65 ares, especially suited to Roussanne.  Hand-harvested at full ripeness in the early morning, then aged for eight months on the lies. This cuvee shows great complexity and richness.
