Wine Enthusiast: 95 Points “This big, rich wine offers dense tannins as well as sumptuous black fruits. Fruit and acidity come together to create a wine with both richness and juicy black-plum flavors. Drink this powerful wine from 2025.”

Château Kiran was elected a 3me Cru (3rd Growth) in The Médoc Classification of 1855, a list which included only 58 producers.

Winery notes: "The 2016 vintage, bottled in late May, displays a superb dark ruby, almost garnet red color.
An intense bouquet of black fruit stands out in the nose, along with notes of cinnamon and mild pepper. In the mouth, the attack is at once full and fresh, promptly giving way to rich and lengthy volume. The smooth, juicy flesh coats the palate while fine notes of cocoa round out the aromatic blend. Delightfully grained tannins combine with distinct freshness and a lovely length. Château Kirwan is produced from the best parcels of the vineyard that have mainly gravel soils, with some also clay. The fruit is picked and sorted twice by hand, then vinified in separate batches corresponding to individual vineyard parcels. Half the oak barrels used to age the wine for 18 months are renewed every year.”

2016: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33 % Merlot, 7 % Cabernet-franc, 5 % Petit Verdot, with 50 Hl/Ha yields.

Winemaker’s notes: “The wine offers a perceptible yet discrete concentration, illustrating the full grandeur of the Château Kirwan terroir. Superb potential for this 2016 vintage!”
